The Paperback Exchange was established by Isabelle Carlo in 1977. She passed the baton to Sharon in 2009. We've upgraded a bit, joined the interwebs and are carrying on the tradition of book trading in Belmar!

We carry used fiction and non-fiction books, every genre from romance to horror, spirituality to science, history to science fiction. We also carry some collectible books and new books by local authors. Our inventory is constantly changing, so if we don't have it today we may have it tomorrow.

​We can order almost ANY book for you at a discount. If you're looking for that hard to find book, or have to have that new book NOW, or have a book club book for which you'll need several copies, we can get it for you! 

Once your order arrives we will immediately contact you. Please pick up your order within seven business days (or notify us of any delay) or your book will be shelved to share with other customers. 

 *Store credit cannot be used for purchase of special order books.

Gift cards are available in any denomination for the bibliophiles on your gift list.

Year round we have a quantity of books that are marked down to just $1 each or a Baker's Dozen for $10.00! The stock rotates regularly as well-used books are marked down and added to the inventory.

$1 books are marked with 2 stripes across the bottom of the spine. They are returnable if you would like, but do not receive further store credit.
